Convert Extra/Faulty Modem into a
WiFi Router
If you have an Extra or
Faulty DSL modem which is not working with DSL line or due to some problem or
line up gradation you replaced it, don’t throw it out, it is still usable.....
Yes.! You can use it as an Extra
WiFi Router at your home or office….
Follow these easy steps to
convert it into a simple WiFi Router…
Step-1
Change you Computer’s IP
address…
Click Start->Control Panel-> Network
and Internet->View network status and tasks or Network and
Sharing Center, click onchange adapter settings.
Step-2
Factory Reset Modem that you
have an Extra one, by long pressing Reset Button at back of the Modem.
Step-2
Connect it to PC using LAN
(Ethernet) Cable, open web browser (any) and type 192.168.1.1 in address bar
and enter,
It will ask you for Username
and Password, commonly both are “admin”
After login successfully
Click “Advanced” then go to “WAN” and chose all settings as shown in this
image.
After that click on “Submit”
Now Click LAN then WLAN and flow steps as shown in
this image.
Then Click Submit.
Now Disable DHCP and Change
Default IP address of modem by click on “LAN” then “DHCP” and follow settings
as shown in this image.
Then click “Submit”
Now IP address for this Modem
has been changed and new IP is 192.168.1.68
If you want to verify
settings again you have to type 192.168.1.68 in your Internet Browser (any)
instead of 192.168.1.1
Verify Settings again and
Connect this modem to yor main modem using Ethernet cable (LAN to LAN) and
Enjoy another WiFi Router + Extra LAN Ports (Switch)
